Present in the mirror of the past

A tour through the places of art and culture on the Saarbrücken castle rock

Today, Saarbrücken Castle, in conjunction with the Saar Historical Museum, the Museum of Prehistory and Early History - along with the Old Collection and the Museum in the Castle Church - sees itself as a multifaceted place of art and culture that stimulates further thinking.

A stroll through these extraordinary places of remembrance poetically conveys an idea of the different times, architectures and lifestyles of a refuge to which the city of Saarbrücken owes its name.

The past builds the future. In this spirit, the congenial artist and architect Gottfried Böhm gave Saarbrücken Castle its current silhouette as the city crown of Saarbrücken. He died in 2021 at the age of 101. The 2023 rambles pay special attention to his work!
