Messages of a landscape
Works by artists Rudolf Schwarz and Bernd Janes promote the poetry and preservation of an old cultural landscape in the Historic City Hall Kleinblittersdorf
The historic Kleinblittersdorf town hall has long been a regular venue for art exhibitions and is therefore part of the network of places of art and culture in the Saarbrücken Regional Association. On the initiative of the Saarbrücken Regional Association and the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf, the aim is to use the language of art to explore the themes of the Bliesgau UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The artist Vera Loos will curate the art exhibitions in future. To kick things off, the artists Rudolf Schwarz and Bernd Janes have been invited to show works that can be read as subtle messages about the specific cultural landscape of the Bliesgau.
Architect, building ecologist and artist Bernd Janes highlights the unmistakable earth color of this landscape with 7 panels and 7 rammed earth bodies, which he created from the loamy shell limestone soil of the Bliesgau biosphere. It is based on subtle differences of the loamy shell limestone. Lyrical texts written by the Saarland poet Johannes Kühn especially for these works of art open up dialogues that allow deeper sensual access to the very own identity of the Bliesgau landscape.
With his conceptual artwork "BLIESGAUHOCKER", KunstSchäfer Rudolf Schwarz invites us to take a seat and trace the deeper mission of his work. Using the symbol and methodology of the "Mobile - UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau", the artist has linked his work with important viewpoints on the sustainable preservation of this landscape. Viewers can participate in this and develop their own perspective.
At the opening of the exhibition, the Mayor of Kleinblittersdorf Rainer Lang, the Regional Association Director Peter Gillo and the Chairman of the Bliesgau Biosphere Association, District Administrator Dr. Theophil Gallo, warmly welcomed the visitors.
Curator Vera Loos and cultural officer Peter Michael Lupp introduced the artists and their works. Saxophonist Hartmut Oßwald reflected the theme musically.
The exhibition was on display in the Kleinblittersdorf historic town hall until May 31, 2023.

The art project sees itself as a contribution to aesthetic and cultural education for sustainable development in the UNESCO biosphere reserve Bliesgau. Cooperation partners are the Regionalverband Saarbrücken, the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf, the Saarpfalz-Kreis and the Biosphärenzweckverband Bliesgau.
